SCHOLARSHIP

THE HEAVYWEIGHT HOPE SCHOLARSHIP FUND

“The Heavyweight Hope Scholarship Program,” established by the Tyson Center, is a mental health initiative for teens aged 14-17 facing mental health challenges. The program offers 7 scholarships annually, each providing 7 free therapy sessions (7 hours in total). It's mission is to break the stigma surrounding mental health while providing practical resources to support young individuals and their families.

Each year, the program introduces a new scholarship focus related to the evolving mental health crisis. This ensures the initiative remains responsive to current needs and challenges faced by youth.

Each year, the scholarship centers on a specific mental health topic, such as:

•Anxiety

•Depression

•Phase-of-life struggles (e.g., major life changes or transitions)

•Social media and mental health

•Coping with trauma or grief

•Other emerging mental health crises.

Based on the year’s topic, the scholarships are tailored to address relevant mental health concerns and provide.
